Invasive plant species threaten native species and habitats causing ecologic, economic and social burden. When creating climate friendly solutions by utilizing plant biomasses in biogas and fertilizer production, safety should be ensured concerning the use of residues. This study concentrates on the treatment of biomasses containing invasive plant material by tunnel and windrow composting, and by farm-scale and laboratory-scale anaerobic digestion (AD) in mesophilic conditions. Desde hace unos años está surgiendo una nueva clase de contaminantes químicos utilizados por el hombre con distintas finalidades y denominados contaminantes emergentes, entre los cuales se incluyen los productos farmacéuticos. Todos estos compuestos se encuentran en las aguas residuales, y como las estaciones de depuración de aguas residuales no están acondicionadas para eliminarlos, acaban liberándose en el medio ambiente. Biological nitrogen removal from landfill leachate: a pilot-scale study

A pilot-scale two-stage process including an anaerobic pretreatment (up-flow anaerobic sludge blanket, UASB) unit and a pre-denitrification activated sludge process was studied for treating leachates from a municipal landfill (waste aged 4 to 5 years, area 2.5 ha) and from a windrow composting area (1ha). A single-stage pilot process was used for nitrification studies. The leachate characteristics were as follows: COD 740 to 2400 mg 1-1 (chemical oxygen demand), BOD7 (biochemical oxygen demand) approximately 1000 mg 1 -1, Ntot 40 to 120 mg 1-1 and the temperature was between 2 and 21°C. The Role of Covalent Functionalization in the Thermal Stability and Decomposition of Hybrid Layered Hydroxides

The room temperature synthesis of two Co-based hybrid layered hydroxides containing the same organic ligand (suberate [Sub]), one connected through purely electrostatic interactions (CoAl layered double hydroxide [LDH]), and the other covalently functionalized (α-CoII simonkolleite phase) has been carried out.
